I like to vary my daily smoothies. Today I made a simple protein-antioxidant combo using matcha green tea powder (organic) (1 tsp) , Kara coconut milk (300ml) and 1.5 tablespoons of whey protein isolate that been flavoured with organic cacao powder. A delicious and refreshing combination.
Matcha tea is finely powdered green tea from the finest quality leaves. It can be made into a delicious traditional tea, made with a teaspoon and bamboo whisk, or added to frozen yoghurts (delicious), or protein bars and smoothies.
- The L-theanine in matcha relaxes blood vessels to help lower blood pressure, and enhances mood and through release of the neurochemical dopamine.
- Matcha is the strongly antioxidant, containing catechin polyphenols, offering protection against some cancers, and heart disease, as well as being cholesterol-reducing.
- It is a natural anti-inflammatory and can improve joint health and mobility.
