    The health benefits of Matcha Tea Powder

    I like to vary my daily smoothies.  Today I made a simple protein-antioxidant combo using matcha green tea powder (organic) (1 tsp) , Kara coconut milk (300ml) and 1.5 tablespoons of whey protein isolate that been flavoured with organic cacao powder.   A delicious and refreshing combination.

    Matcha tea is finely powdered green tea from the finest quality  leaves. It can be made into a delicious traditional tea, made with a teaspoon and bamboo whisk, or added to frozen yoghurts (delicious), or protein bars and smoothies.  

    Health Benefits: 

    • The L-theanine in matcha relaxes  blood vessels to help  lower blood pressure, and enhances mood and  through release of the neurochemical dopamine.
    • Matcha is the strongly antioxidant, containing  catechin polyphenols, offering  protection against some cancers, and  heart disease, as well as being  cholesterol-reducing. 
    • It is  a natural anti-inflammatory and can improve joint health and mobility.

    Nectarines are high  in fibre and contain the antioxidant lutein which is important for skin and eye health, beta-carotene ( present in bright red/orange/yellow fruit) for eye health and to encourage vitamin A absorption, vitamin C and minerals such as iron and calcium. 

    Chia seeds are rich in essential  omega-3 fatty acid (alpha-linolenic acid) which plays a role in cancer prevention.

    • 1  Nectarine
    • 300ml of Kara Dairy Free Coconut Milk 
    • 1 heaped teaspoon of organic Chia seeds  

    I prefer to blend the whole lot together and serve slightly chilled. Wonderful!
